BRET MICHAELS On POISON: 'The Band Has Never Broken Up, And We Never Will'
September 10, 2016In a brand new interview with Pocono Record, POISON singer Bret Michaels was asked about the band's status and whether there will be a follow-up to the group's last album, 2007's "Poison'd". He responded: "With POISON, it's always about timing. The band has never broken up, and we never will. Right now is not the time for us to make new music, but the day will come, when we are all on the same page and we will do something really special."
Pressed on whether he is working on new solo music and if so, when fans can expect to hear something, Bret said: "I am always working on new solo material. I have a studio on the bus with me and anytime I have an idea, I can get up and crank it out. I'm not exactly sure when something new will come out, but it's never far away."
Michaels hinted in a recent interview that POISON will re-team with DEF LEPPARD for a U.S. tour in 2017. The two groups first hit the road together back in 2009, and then again three years later.
POISON appeared at the 2013 Indy 500 Miller Lite Carb Day, but has otherwise been mostly playing private shows, including one in January 2015.
The band hasn't done any major touring since taking part in the 2012 "Rock Of Ages" trek with DEF LEPPARD and LITA FORD.
POISON drummer Rikki Rockett was recently declared cancer free after undergoing an experimental treatment. He was diagnosed with oral cancer more than a year ago. He told Classic Rock Revisited: "I want to play and I would love to tour. Hopefully that will happen. I've stopped telling anybody that POISON is going to tour, because every time we say we will, something comes along and screws it up. I would like to do that. I'm good enough to do it. I'm fine. I am absolutely fine. I train jiu-jitsu two hours a day. I am good to go. I have strength. Am I as strong as I was? Is my timing as good as it was? Not yet, but I am getting there, and I will get there soon. Playing a show would be a walk in the park compared to what I do on the mats."
